Privacy notice
In short
Pet Rocket works without an account: then everything stays on your own device. A parent or teacher can choose to create an account to keep and view progress. In that case we also store that adult's email address, the child's first name and pet, and the practice results.
What is stored on your device
The game keeps the following in your browser's storage (localStorage): the name you type, the chosen pet, your choice of multiplication or division, the chosen tables, the score of each round and, for each problem, how often it was right or wrong. This data is not sent to us or to anyone else. You remove it by clearing this site's data in your browser.
These are not tracking cookies. No cookies are used to follow you.
If you use an account, a copy of the practice results is also stored in your account (see below).
If you create an account
Creating an account means giving an email address and confirming that you are a parent, guardian or teacher aged 18 or over. Children do not create accounts and do not enter an email address.
We store: the email address, the chosen language, for each child a first name or nickname and the chosen pet, the result of every round played with date and time, for each problem how often it was right or wrong, the best score and the number of days practiced. We do not ask for a surname, address, photo or date of birth. You do not need to use your child's real name.
We use this data to show progress on several devices, to build charts and badges, to let you log in and to email a weekly report. We do not use it for advertising or profiling and we do not sell it.
The legal basis is your consent, given when you create the account. You can withdraw it at any time by deleting your account.
Classes
A teacher can create a class and gets a class code. A parent decides whether a child is added to that class. The teacher then sees the child's first name, pet and practice results (number of rounds, how often it was right and the hardest tables). The parent can remove the child from the class at any time.
Logging in and cookies
You log in with a link or code we send to your email address, without a password. Only when you log in do we set one cookie to keep you logged in (60 days) and a second cookie that shows you are logged in. They are not tracking cookies.
Weekly report
Accounts get a weekly email report by default, but only for weeks in which a child practiced. You can turn it off in your account or with the link at the bottom of each email.
Who processes the data
The data is kept in a database at Cloudflare, our hosting provider. Emails are sent through Resend. If you sign in with Google, Google only passes on the verified email address. Both act as processors on our behalf. Data may be processed outside the European Economic Area; in that case the European Commission's standard contractual clauses apply.
Retention and your rights
We keep the data as long as your account exists. An account that has not been used for 24 months is deleted automatically. In your account you can download all data and permanently delete the account with all children and results.
You also have the right of access, correction and objection. Email us at [email protected]. You can complain to your national data protection authority, in Belgium the Data Protection Authority.
What we do not do
We use no ads, no analytics tools and no social media buttons. The fonts are served from our own server, so no connection to Google Fonts or other third parties is needed.
Technical data at the host
As with any website, the hosting service may briefly keep technical data about a visit in a server log, such as the IP address, the time and the page requested. This is needed to deliver and secure the site.
Children
The game is made for children, but an account is for adults only. For a child we only store a first name or nickname, a pet and practice results, and only with the consent of the parent or guardian who manages the account. Without an account everything stays on the child's device.
