SEO guide
How we help parents and teachers find Pet Rocket, in every language.
Overview
One page per question a parent or teacher really has, in every language. Each country gets pages for what its parents and teachers search for. We write them for that country; we don't translate them.
- One page per search intent, not per keyword. "The 7 times table" and "division by 7" are different questions, so they get different pages. "7 times table", "times table of 7" and "7x table" are the same question: one page.
- No near-duplicate pages. Pages that differ only by a word or a number, and mostly push visitors on to the game, count as doorway pages for Google and can pull the whole site down.
- Every page is useful on its own: the sums, a trick, the pitfall, what school expects. The button into the game comes after that.
- Start with the question or worry behind the search, then the answer, then the game.
- Only state curriculum facts that are in the localisation table of the copywriting guide.
Helpful, people-first content
- Write for parents and teachers, not for search engines. If a page only exists to rank, don't make it.
- Show real experience. How the game works, what we saw children do, Steven's own story. That is what makes a page trustworthy.
- Text drafted with AI is fine, mass-produced text is not. A person checks every page for facts, tone and the country's school rules before it goes live.
- Keep pages current. Prices, features and school facts change; an outdated page is worse than no page.

Titles
- Say clearly what the page is, with the words parents use first:
The 7 times table: tricks and practice · Pet Rocket. - There is no fixed character limit. Google shortens long titles to fit the screen and sometimes rewrites them, so put what matters at the front and keep it short.
- Every page has its own title. End with
· Pet Rocket; the home page puts the brand first:Pet Rocket · times tables game for kids. - Use the country's word: "times tables" (UK), "multiplication facts" (US), "Einmaleins" (DE), "pahade" (HI).
Headings
- One H1 per page that matches the title's question, with the brand world in it, for example Learn your times tables with your favourite pet. From the first sum to the Moon.
- H2s answer the questions parents ask: which sums are new, the trick, the pitfall, how to practise.
- Sentence case, no full stops in headings.
What people search for, per country
Use these words the way parents say them. Never repeat them to fill a page.

Check which searches really bring visitors in Google Search Console, and adjust the pages to those questions.
Slugs
- Lowercase, in the local language, words joined with hyphens, no accents:
/de/arbeitsblaetter/,/es/nino-no-aprende-tablas-de-multiplicar/. - Chinese and Hindi use pinyin or Latin transliteration:
/zh/chengfa-koujue/,/hi/pahade/. - Never change a live slug. If you really must, add a 301 redirect from the old address.
- Always end with a slash.
Meta descriptions
- A short, honest summary of the page: the question or fact first, then what the visitor can do. No fixed length.
- Google often writes its own snippet from the page, so the first sentences of the page matter as much as the description.
- Example: Many children find the 7 times table the hardest. Good news: only 7 × 6, 7 × 7 and 7 × 8 are really new. Practise them for free in a game.
- Every page has its own; never copy one between pages.
Structured data
- We describe the site with Organization, WebApplication (with the Moon Pass offer) and BreadcrumbList.
- Only mark up what is visible on the page, and keep prices in it correct.
- FAQ and HowTo markup no longer gives sites like ours extra results in Google. Existing FAQ markup does no harm, but don't add it to get a better listing.
Languages and hreflang
- Pages that exist in every language link to each other with hreflang:
en,en-US,nl,fr,de,es,zh-CN,hiandx-default. - Country-specific pages (a Dutch division table, a UK test page) only name themselves.
- Visitors are never redirected by language; the site picks the euro or dollar version by country on the same address.
Speed and mobile
- Most visitors are on a phone: every page must work at phone width without zooming or scrolling sideways.
- Fast pages rank and convert better: no heavy scripts, self-hosted fonts, images in WebP with a width and height, videos that only load when played.
- No pop-ups that cover the page before the visitor has read it.
Images, alt text and file names
- Alt text says what the image shows and why it matters: "Child playing the 7 times table on a tablet".
- Decorative images (stars, the rocket next to the brand name) get an empty alt.
- File names: lowercase with hyphens, in English, with a version when the design changes:
og-en-v3.jpg. - Photos of children: never with a name in view, only with written permission of a parent.
Internal links
- Every table page links to the hub, the neighbouring tables and its three division sums.
- Worry pages link to the relevant table pages and to the game.
- Link text says where you go: "practise the 7 times table", not "click here".
Measuring and outreach
- Google Search Console shows which searches find the site and which pages have problems.
- Visitors are counted with a cookie-free counter; no tracking cookies.
- Links to the site are followed in Ahrefs Webmaster Tools. Earn links with pages worth sharing; never buy or swap links.
- Free educational directories are for reaching parents and teachers, not for links. We skip portals that embed the game in their own page and directories that need an account.
- Listing text makes the same claims as the site, no more.
