Dividing by 12
Dividing by 12 looks like a big step, but it comes up a lot: hours, months, eggs by the dozen. With halving it becomes dividing by 6.
Dividing by 12
- 12 ÷ 12 = 1
- 24 ÷ 12 = 2
- 36 ÷ 12 = 3
- 48 ÷ 12 = 4
- 60 ÷ 12 = 5
- 72 ÷ 12 = 6
- 84 ÷ 12 = 7
- 96 ÷ 12 = 8
- 108 ÷ 12 = 9
- 120 ÷ 12 = 10
- 132 ÷ 12 = 11
- 144 ÷ 12 = 12
Trick
Halve first, then divide by 6. 84 ÷ 12: half of 84 is 42, and 42 ÷ 6 = 7.
Watch out
Only even numbers divide by 12. The biggest sum is 144 ÷ 12 = 12.
